youthSupport for church youth groups

My name is David Parker-Radford and I work for the local charity Young Lives which is an umbrella organisation, supporting voluntary organisations working with children and families in Peterborough.

I co-ordinate a free support service for organisations working with children, young people and families in Peterborough. If you could benefit from some support with issues like partnership working, funding, quality assurance, using young volunteers, training, safeguarding and CRB checks, staff and volunteer policies and procedures, and any others, then please let me know and I can offer information, advice and guidance.

You may want to benefit from a free support session where our development worker will visit your group or organisation. This is time set aside where you can talk about the issues and challenges facing your group or organisation.  Our development worker will listen and offer suggestions and has a bank of resources to help.  You can also take the ‘Organisational Healthcheck’ which is a guided questionnaire designed to help you know whether you could improve the management of your group and aid strategic planning for the future. I am also available over the phone or by email for any issues you may have.

Please visit the ‘Support for Organisations’ pages on our web site at www.young-lives.org.uk to find out more. We have many resources, experience and links to similar groups and decision makers which may be able to help you.

I also manage the VoiCeS Project in Peterborough which has established a local VoiCeS network and open forums, theme groups and representation opportunities for voluntary and community organisations to help give them a stronger local voice.

Young Lives also offers other services such as free and low cost training courses to voluntary groups, an HR specialist able to support groups around HR and safeguarding policies, a workforce specialist able to support groups to identify training needs in their groups, and links with a bank of young volunteers aged between 16-25. We also have membership packages – for just £30 a year you can get free CRB checks for staff and volunteers, discounted training and much more.

Please contact me if you would like to be involved at any level and I would be happy to discuss any of your questions with you.

Yours sincerely,

David Parker-Radford
