Florence House is a residential care home which arose out of a vision for the care of elderly Christians who could no longer live alone. Permanent, respite care and limited day care can be provided. Following our most recent CQC inspection we have a two star (good) quality rating.
The home operates as a Christian environment. The work of the paid employees is supported by a committed team of volunteers who help in many different ways, including morning coffee, afternoon tea, quiz nights, family prayers each weekday, a regular Sunday afternoon service.
Details of services and activities:
The home, based near Central Park on Park Road has 19 en-suite rooms, and, from the start there has been a commitment to work through the following principles
1. The belief that each individual is valued.
2. The desire to enable each individual to retain his/her sense of self-esteem and personal dignity at a time of life when independence may seem to be threatened.
3. Orientation of care towards enabling each resident to achieve his/her full potential by way of self-care, but always aware of changes in needs.
4. Encouragement of physical, social and intellectual activities, while respecting the individual’s right to choose when to be quiet and alone.
5. Allowing residents to maintain individuality and autonomy in making choices and plans as far as possible, in continuing the life-style and routine that they enjoyed previously.
6. Encouraging all to recognise that this is a family home for those who choose to live here, with consideration of others’ needs and wishes.
If you or a member of your family is looking for either permanent or temporary respite care or day care and would like to know more about the home, please contact us.
Similarly, we are sometimes looking for new staff, so if you have experience of working in the care environment and maybe looking for a new role, please let us have your details.
