Update on the Inspirations Studio
The Inspirations Studio is a space has been a space for 13-19 years olds on a Saturday afternoon in a shop on Long Causeway, made possible by volunteers from across the City Centre Churches and Youth Workers from Peterborough City Council with partner support from the Police. Originally planned by young people from St John Fisher, PCC youth clubs and church young people from the city centre the project continues to be shaped and designed young people. The shop has seen over 100 young people come through its doors since the middle of February and has recently received an extension to open until the beginning of May. Young people have been able to get involved in non-alcoholic cocktail making, music production, table football, Art work and Graffiti as well as improve their DJ skills. As part of this project the young people have designed an undertaken a survey asking the views of other teenagers about provision in the city centre, having received 150 responses which are currently being processed, but showing support from young people to have a space in the city centre.
The next step is to discern how this project can continue more long term, furthering the partnership between the city centre churches, PCC and the Police. |
