‘The Journey’ to the Olympics
The Olympics is really starting to gear up now, and so are lots of churches across the City and the nation.
There is a wealth of projects we can link into as Christian communities with the ‘More Than Gold’ initiative taking centre stage. One other highly creative project is 'The Journey’ being organised by Escalls Chapel, the first chapel from Lands End Cornwall.
As the Olympic Flame travels 8,000 miles around the U.K., including a visit to Peterborough and some of the surrounding towns and villages, ‘The Journey’ will travel the Flame route in an open top "praise" bus, kindly been donated by Baths Buses.
The aims of the bus mission is to share fun and encouragement, letting every man, woman and child know that God loves them. The instrument for this will be prayer and praise with live bands
In order for 'The Journey' to be successful they require bands, accommodation for a team of approximately six people and parking for the bus overnight. At each overnight stop, ‘The Journey’ will drop off three bands and pick up three more local groups. In this way, it will involve the whole nation.
On the 3rd July the Flame will be overnight in Peterborough and leaving the following morning finishing in Norwich. It will also be travelling to Cambridge on 8th July and finishing on that day in Luton. If you are a musician, a great host or have a passion for prayer then ‘The Journey’ would love to hear from you?
