Cathedral installs new CanonsCathedral and moon

Peterborough Cathedral welcomed 3 new Canons as Members of the College of Canons during a recent Evensong service.
The installation of the Canons came with all the ceremony one would expect and hope for, and included one of the first formal outings for the Cathedral’s first female choir. The ceremony was overseen by the Bishop of Peterborough, Donald Allister and Charles Taylor, Dean of the Cathedral.
Canons of the Cathedral Church have a responsibility to support the life of the prayer of the Cathedral, both in their private devotions and in their corporate acts of worship. They are called also to promote its mission in the diocese.
Members of the clergy were present as well as about 100 guests who were able to enjoy first class canapés and a glass of wine to celebrate the occasion.
The three new Canons are the Reverend Gillian Jessop from All Saints Church Paston as a Non-Residentiary Canon, Elizabeth Holdsworth the diocese Co-Coordinator for Adult Education and Ministry Training as a Lay Canon, and Dr Clive Morton O.B.E. as an Ecumenical Canon.
