Passion for Peterborough

hopeHope for Peterborough

On New Year’s Eve over 500 people from all sorts of Christian congregations and groups in the Peterborough area gathered together in the Cathedral to praise God for what His work in Peterborough over the past year, and rededicate themselves to continuing that work in the coming year.

There was a video of mission focussed activities that have been going on in Peterborough during 2009....Street Invasion, Care Zone, Love came down at Christmas, Project Hosanna, Street Pastors, Christians against Poverty, which gave a flavour of what has been happening, and very exciting it was too....as the flavour was of the Gospel going out to all sorts of people in Peterborough, and being seen and heard, through projects involving Christians working cross- congregationally, and in unity.

Dave Smith, senior pastor at Kingsgate, spoke about Christians being under God’s influence, and the importance of spending time with God on a daily basis to make this a reality, and the impact this have on Christian mission over the coming year in Peterborough.

And finally a Declaration of Hope for the coming opportunities in Peterborough for 2010 was said by everyone there, but led by all the priests, ministers and pastors with congregational responsibilities in Peterborough that were there.

Roll on 2010.

It was a brilliant celebration and a great way to start the new year. Well done to all who organised the event and to those who led the various parts. Creative worship at its best!

It's great that we have our own home churches but even greater that we can come together, laying aside our differences to put God and the people of this city first. I am so grateful to the pastors in this city who have spearheaded the way to make such an event possible. Thank you and may more be added to your number in the coming year.
