Wheels to the Wave
On Wednesday 2nd December a dedicated group of 12 cyclists ranging in age from 13 to 80, will arrive in Peterborough on having cycled from Nottingham. They are part of a group called Climate Chains and are riding “Wheels to the Wave” from Bradford to London to raise awareness of the consequences of climate change, ready to join The Wave on 5th December. One of the cyclists, Mary Keynes, will celebrate her 80th birthday on Sunday 30th November by setting off with the group from Bradford Centenary Square on the 200-mile, 6-day cycling journey to London and the Stop Climate Chaos March.
To celebrate their efforts Christian Aid, Peterborough Environmental City Trust and The Westgate Church are organising an evening of Caribbean food and conversation. The evening will begin with a first course of Caribbean food, followed by a talk by the cyclists explaining their motivation for cycling from Bradford to London. This will be followed by second course and conversations will continue afterwards for “Green Drinks” at the Brewery Tap.
