The Good Neighbours Scheme
The Good Neighbours Scheme, managed by the Salvation Army is pleased to announce that it has secured a Safer Homes grant from the Home Office. Good Neighbours will offer free advice to older people living in the Peterborough area on home security.
Good Neighbours will work in partnership on this project with another local voluntary agency, the ‘Bobby’s Scheme’ who will install free home security. This free service is available for 6 months until April 2010. The Good Neighbours Scheme has run a successful accredited Befriending Scheme, Day Centre and a Gardening project for older people over the past 6 years. More than 600 people have been helped during this time by the Good Neighbours Scheme.
Sharon Keogh, Programme Manager of the Good Neighbours Scheme said: ‘We are very pleased to have secured this funding as we feel that the Safer Homes Project will be an additional important service available to older people across the city, helping them feel safer in their own homes’.
