Care Zone
...showing care to our communities

Care Zone is a local Christian project that aims to alleviate poverty within Peterborough. It provides food parcels, furniture, household items, clothing, toys, bed linen, curtains and other items for free to underprivileged, disadvantaged or needy people in the community.

“Our hope is that in meeting their basic needs, we may be able to reach out to show them just how much God loves them, and also meet their spiritual needs”. Comments Gill Day, Centre Manager. “It’s not just about supplying furniture, but also touching hearts”.

This year from Jan – July we have already helped over 600 families, and had 2154 visitors. Do you feel inspired or motivated to get involved? We are always looking for support from other churches or organisations.

delivering1How can you or your church help?

You can support us in the following ways:
·         Food hampers
·         Furniture donations
·         Financial gifts
·         Prayer support

1.    Food hampers

We are urgently in need of food donations particularly during this economic crisis, as we are receiving more and more requests from agencies who know of families who cannot afford to buy adequate food. We would love to receive food hampers containing non-perishable food items.

These can be delivered direct to the Care Zone warehouse during opening hours, or alternatively at the collection zone within Kingsgate Community Church which is open 8.30-5.00 Mon-Fri and on a Sunday.

2.    Furniture donations

We have a high turnover of furniture so are always in need of sofas, beds, mattresses, tables and chairs. We only accept furniture that is in good condition and meets necessary fire regulations. If you live within Peterborough we will collect free of charge. Please call the number below.

3.    Financial contributions

Although we operate mainly with volunteers, we do still have overheads such as rent, heating, lighting, maintenance of delivery van etc. As we do not charge for our service, we rely completely on donations, gifts and funding from local churches and other organisations. We would be delighted to receive any financial support, be it a one-off gift, or a monthly contribution. It could be that Care Zone could be your nominated local charity for the year. Your support will make all the difference in reaching out. Please do contact us.

4.    Prayer support

Dynamic prayer is so effective. We would appreciate your prayer support, please pray for the work that we do, for protection over the project and the volunteers, and for hearts and minds to be touched by the love of God. We would love to see this project have a real impact on the City and in transforming lives.

Please do feel free to come and visit the warehouse to see the good work that we do first-hand. We would kindly ask that you call us beforehand as we do escort people around, particularly during busy periods.

Hi Pamela
I am sure we can help your granddaughter, she will need to obtain a referral form which she can get from the Hostel or care worker then bring it down to the Care Zone and we can see what we have in stock. We don't do White goods (cookers) but have a number that do reconditioned cookers and washing machines. She is blessed to have such a lovely, caring grandmother. Stay blessed. Janie Bingham

Hello

I found this site when looking for someone to donate our sofa to. I couldn't help notice the posting above and think you should remove the phone number or Mrs. Parks. Whilst most people are here to help there are many nasty people out there who could take advantage of an elderly lady and publishing this number gives them direct access and an excuse to call.

Regards

Colin

Dear Janie and Gill

I have used your service myself in troubled times and am happy to say i am back on my feet, unfortunately i have a friend who despite ongoing serious mental health problems have been discharged from mental health services and like so many has suffered a serious setback. She badly needs some basic items like a washing machine food a new mattress etc but there is now no one to refer her. i cant make an appointment on her behalf with her gp and at the moment she is clearly incapable of organising this herself. Who exactly can refer her and how can i get a form to them? Can a religious leader refer her? or a housing association? Can a charity like MIND refer her? or can we perhaps provide proof of her circumstances without a referral?
Thankyou for your help

Hi Katheryn
I am sure we could help your friend. Mind should have our referral forms, a number of churches have our Referral forms check with your Pastor/Minister and if thet don't have any get them to ring Care Zone and well get some forms to them. Also Axiom, Cross Keys have our forms. Good to know she has such great friend.
