Cardboard City night raises cash for homeless
Earlier in the year 20 young people from Kingsgate were involved in “Cardboard City”. The challenge was to spend a whole night outside with just some cardboard to protect them against the elements. Despite the temperatures dropping to -3, everyone was buzzing. After praying for the homeless and making their cardboard shelters they finally settling down to sleep outside. In the morning they celebrated with bacon butties and received a certificate to show they had completed Cardboard City.
As a result they raised £845 which was donated to St Theresas, a project that works with the homeless in the City. This enabled them to provide breakfast and a 2-course hot meal at lunch time for over 50 people each day for two months!
